Call for Calypso Artistes

Are you a calypso artiste with stage presence, original material, and a passion for storytelling through song? We want you!

  • Event: Calypso Competition
  • Who: Solo calypsonians
  • Prizes: Cash awards, trophies, and performance opportunities for finalists

Rules:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Material: One original calypso song (social commentary, humour, storytelling) — max 7 minutes each
  • Must not have been performed in any competition and must not be written by AI.

How to enter:

  1. Complete a registration form
  2. Submit a short bio (max 200 words).
  3. Pay registration fee
  4. Provide two sample recordings (MP3 or links) — one original calypso and one performance clip.
  5. Include a photo and contact details (phone, email).

Selection & format:

  • All contestants perform on tracks in front of panel of judges at Semi-finals show.
  • Top performers from the Semi-finals advance to the Calypso Final Competition where winners are chosen by a panel of judges.
