SUMMARY:CALYPSO WORKSHOP (Sans Humanité)
DESCRIPTION:An Indoor Free Event \nThis workshop is a first for OCPA\, also done in partnership with HTC. Participants will learn the rudiments of composing an 8-line calypso\, using a standard melody that is more than 100 years old. It will introduce participants to Extempo\, one of the earliest forms of Calypso\, sung in the minor key. It will be acoustic (guitar accompaniment) and conducted by one or more OCPA members\, who will perform on the WestJet Stage afterwards. At the conclusion\, participants will have the opportunity to perform their song for one another. It will be limited to approximately 25 participants\, on first-come\, first-served basis. \n

DESCRIPTION:An Outdoor Free Event \nMonday August 1st 3:00 pm @ Harbourfront WestJet StageCALYPSO STARS is a partnership between Organization of Calypso Performing Artistes (OCPA) and Harbourfront Centre (HFC) that presents Canadian calypso before an audience of over 2\,500. The inclusion of Calypso STARS in HFC’s marketing program exposes new and more varied audiences to Calypso and OCPA’s artists. Having calypso at the waterfront makes it an almost tropical musical experience for audience and artistes to enjoy. The concert serves to raise OCPA’s public profile\, increase OCPA’s advertising reach and the sponsorship value of our program
